The Thought of Always Being There

I’m not sure if you’ve experienced this, but I’ve had a friend who I just knew it would be a long term forever thing. Distance meant nothing. Being around each other meant everything. There was so much understanding, so many fun times, so much strength, and so many memories we shared equally. But it changed. After knowing each other for six years and being around each other so much, we grew apart.
It wasn’t because of distance or another relationship, I needed to part.
I needed to grow in my journey.
I didn’t understand at the time why I became isolated from this person, and I had no bad feelings toward them.
I could speak highly of them, without having to think twice.
Yet, the season of our closeness began to fade.
Later on I would hear of incidences and altercations she was involved in with others. People would contact me to see what I knew. I knew nothing. It wasn’t even my place to find out what happened. I would just include her in my prayer and hope whatever she was going through she would come out unharmed.
Surprisingly, I was going through my isolation because I had neglected my life’s focus. I was consumed in always hanging out and living it up. I didn’t take time for myself to see what needed my attention and growth. In life, we have seasons for everything. We have friends and relationships, we just know things will always last. Yet even if things don’t end with a blowout or end on bad terms, sometimes we are removed from situations before a blowout. If you haven’t connected with someone in awhile or if you’ve grown a part and there’s no negativity, just know life happens and seasons change.
In the end, make sure that you are okay. If later on your paths cross again, there should be a newness and a growth in both of you. If there’s not, continue to appreciate them for their time in your life. Memories can bring a smile. Pray for them, even if it’s from a distance. Find your focus, and keep your well being in check. As you grow in your light, pray that others will grow in their light.
