Just Like In A Goodie Bag (Cheers!)

Years ago, I was gifted with a book of inspirational scriptures, timely for various occasions and seasons in our lives. I had not taken the time to look through it and read it until recently when putting all my books into a book corner.

The devotional God’s Words of Life for Women,” has proven to be one of the best gifts I’ve received. If I need a scripture or a reference and I’m unsure, I’ll choose one from there and then use other resources to expound. If I am closing out my time of meditation and devotion, I’ll see what topic fits in what I was in prayer for that day or randomly choose a section and take the time to reflect.

I encourage everyone to have a good little book

This is something outside of your established spiritual tools or your favorite pieces because those little books are what you would unexpectedly find in a goodie bag. The jewels inside will surprise you differently than before. After reading it may cause you to further dwell on what you read for the purpose of seeking more of it. Recently, as I was taking the time to prepare myself for the day, I read two sections of this little book. The first section I read was on Grace, the second section which I didn’t realize was also in this book was Talents and Abilities. If this new normal has taught us anything about ourselves, it's talents and abilities--how to utilize areas that have been dormant or newly found within ourselves or our environments. This short section on Talents and Abilities ended with this verse...

Psalm 20:4

“May [the Lord] give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”

This verse had me envisioning a gala where this scripture was used as the toast speech. Matter of fact, I read it so many times that I might have said “Cheers!” Either way, I just had to read Psalm 20 to see what else was worded. The warmth in that Psalm alone wrapped me in a sense of peace and being to not only continue my day but to also look toward what’s to come.

There’s nothing like a good feeling.

We all need a positive internal push, especially when that good feeling is unexpected yet takes you further along. The thought of how this little book of verses was miraculously gifted to me, opened at a specific time, then years later suddenly becomes my cheerful go to...that's just like pieces in a goodie bag. The joy you needed, but didn't expect it, yet it's simplicity and thoughtfulness wrapped in a gift lights up your day...

SIMPLY AMAZING!!!

As you continue in light and growth, remember to inhale...and exhale... Even with difficulties and uncertainties in life, let there be that piece of light that reminds you of the wins and goodness still to come. Appreciate the little things that bring you joy and those gifted items that miraculously show up right when you need them.

May you cherish the moments that can unexpectedly occur from a simple gift, like the thoughtfulness found in a goodie bag.
